]]>Everyone wants to smell good throughout the day. We invest in our perfumes, but often forget about an important layer that holds onto our fragrances, our fabrics.
By pairing your perfume or cologne with your fabric care fragrance, you can create a signature scent that lasts and lasts. From morning till night, starting from the moment you slip into your freshly laundered clothes.
Perfume layering, or fragrance layering, is all about mixing and matching scents to create your own personalised scent that lasts through the day. You can blend complimentary perfumes or even mix in other scented products. Laundry fragrance is an amazing way to add a long-lasting layer of scent to your signature mix.
It’s tempting to spritz yourself quickly when running out the door, but the best way to apply perfume so it lasts is to moisturised bare skin. Infusing your fabrics with fragrance that compliments your perfume is a game changer in making sure you smell amazing all day.
To begin your fragrance layering journey, look at the notes of your perfume, and laundry fragrance next to each other. Look for similarities, if there aren't any they’ll likely not be the best match. For example, do they both contain woody or floral notes?
2. Always consider the base notes
The base notes are the longest-lasting notes in any fragrance. You’ll want the bases of your fragrance and fabric care to complement each other, as this blend will linger.
3. Keep it personal
The most important thing when mixing fragrances is that scent is a personal preference. If you love it, that’s the most important thing!
We’ve matched up our fabric care fragrances with popular perfumes, to give you some fragrance layering inspo.

Base Note Stability: Cedarwood is a warm and grounding scent often used as a base note in perfumery. To enhance its earthy and woody characteristics, pair it with fragrances that have similar grounding notes. Consider combining cedarwood with vanilla or sandalwood for a comforting and long-lasting base. A fragrance like Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille or Byredo Gypsy Water can provide a perfect foundation for cedarwood layering.
Floral Elegance: Jasmine is a rich and intoxicating floral note that adds a touch of elegance to any fragrance blend. To enhance its floral bouquet, pair jasmine with complementary floral or citrus notes. Try layering jasmine with rose or bergamot for a romantic and sophisticated scent. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle or Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac & Marigold can serve as excellent options to accentuate the beauty of jasmine.
Earthy and Mysterious: Patchouli brings an earthy and mysterious quality to fragrances, often used as a base or middle note. To highlight its depth, combine patchouli with warm and spicy notes like cinnamon or vanilla. A fragrance such as Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb or Gucci Guilty Absolute can create a captivating blend that showcases the allure of patchouli.
Calming and Fresh: Lavender is known for its calming and fresh aroma, making it a versatile note in fragrance layering. To enhance its soothing qualities, pair lavender with citrus notes like bergamot or lemon. Consider layering lavender with Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium or Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis for a refreshing and sophisticated fragrance that balances the floral and citrus elements.
Fragrance layering is a delightful way to express your individuality through scent. By understanding the characteristics of key fragrance notes like cedarwood, jasmine, patchouli, and lavender, you can create captivating blends that resonate with your style and leave a lasting impression. Embrace the art of layering, experiment with different combinations, and discover a signature fragrance that is uniquely yours.

So, we’ve teamed up with our friends at YesColours to help you create a home in harmony. Scroll for expert tips on colour curation to support your well-being.
It’s a busy world out there. We’re all still carrying a little ‘emotional baggage’ from the endless lockdowns, the change of pace we’ve collectively experienced and the new reality we got to meet without any notice. Whether we work from home or not, we all experience stress on a daily basis and we’re all striving for a harmonious life where we could sit back, relax and simply feel… at home.
Colour is an incredible tool to improve our wellbeing and mental health state, and it’s a proven method that’s contributing towards a more relaxed, balanced and zen lifestyle. It’s not magic but it’s pretty close, we promise. Here are a few tips and tricks on using colour theory to create a home in harmony.
The paint colours you choose hold immense power to influence our emotions and mental well-being. Softer pale paint colours, characterised by their delicate and muted hues, have gained significant popularity for their ability to create a serene environment in various spaces, especially in bedrooms, kitchens, and utility rooms. This deliberate selection of these calmer, softer paint colours not only transforms the visual appeal of these spaces but also deeply impacts our mood, stress levels, and overall mental health.
The psychological impact of colour and fragrance is well-documented, and it's widely recognized that our surroundings influence our mood and mental state. Softer, paler paint colours and natural relaxing fragrances specifically cater to our innate desire for a peaceful environment, allowing us to find moments of respite from the chaos of modern life. They soothe the senses, reduce anxiety, and create a visually pleasing ambiance that contributes to an improved sense of overall well-being. Additionally, colours and fragrance can promote mindfulness, encouraging us to be present in the moment and fostering a positive outlook on life.
The bedroom is a sanctuary where we retreat to rejuvenate and find solace from the demands of everyday life. By adorning bedroom walls with soft pale paint colours such as light blues (YesColours’ Serene Blue and Graceful Aqua), gentle greens (YesColours’ Graceful Green), subdued greys (YesColours’ Friendly Neutral), or blush pinks (YesColours Calming Pink and Serene Pink), a calming and tranquil atmosphere is effortlessly achieved.
These colours evoke a sense of serenity reminiscent of natural landscapes or soft morning skies, helping to lower stress levels and promote a restful sleep environment. The gentle tones also encourage relaxation, essential for preparing the mind for sleep and maintaining overall mental well-being.

The room that’s often considered the heart of a home - the kitchen, is a space where culinary creativity and nourishment flourish. Incorporating soft pale paint colours into the kitchen design fosters a harmonious blend of comfort and functionality. Subtle pastels, warm creams (YesColours’ Calming Neutral), or pale yellows (YesColours’ Fresh yellow or Mellow Neutral) can infuse the kitchen with an air of positivity and warmth, making meal preparation a more pleasurable experience. These colours also stimulate creativity and encourage mindfulness while cooking, as the subdued tones provide a canvas for culinary exploration without overwhelming the senses.
A bright and relaxing kitchen painted with YesColours’ Serene Peach colour.
Utility rooms, despite their utilitarian purpose, can benefit greatly from the application of soft pale paint colours. Often associated with mundane chores, these spaces can be transformed into zones of calm efficiency with the right colour palette. Soft greys (YesColours’ Joyful Neutral), muted beiges (YesColours’ Loving Neutral), or pale lavenders (YesColours’ Graceful Lilac) can soften the utilitarian aesthetics and introduce a touch of tranquillity. This simple adjustment can mitigate the stress often linked to household tasks, enhancing our overall sense of well-being.
The choice of gentled toned paint colours in bedrooms, kitchens, and utility rooms is not just a matter of aesthetic preference, but a conscious decision to nurture our mental health and well-being. By harnessing the power of colour psychology, these spaces can be transformed into havens of serenity, where we can find solace, creativity, and comfort amidst the demands of daily life.

The Bag
Most bulk box bags (like boxed wine bags) are made up of layers of different film materials, making them difficult to recycle. So, we’ve used a clever new recyclable mono-material for the bag inside. The (recycling) cherry on top is our clever tap. Just like the bag it’s made from one type of material making the packaging 100% recyclable which is something we’re especially proud of.
The Box
The super space efficient box looks great on your shelf, and tucks perfectly into your cleaning cupboard, but there’s more. Over 50% less trucks are needed to transport our Bulk Boxes, which dramatically reduces their carbon footprint.
Check out why else we love our Bulk Boxes, plus how to use and recycle your Bulk Box Refills here.
]]>You can now refill your worktop-worthy empties with our botanical laundry liquids and fabric conditioners. One Bulk Box can refill 4 Wilton laundry bottles.
We’ve taken lots of time and paid attention to the details to do our Bulk Boxes differently. With 100% recyclable packaging, 80% less plastic compared to 4 of our standard 1L bottles and 50% less trucks needed to transport them because they’re super space efficient.
]]>Reframing some of your usual daily activities can be a great way of creating unexpected moments of calm. When the house is busy, and you have lots of social plans, those moments can help to keep you centred in amongst the chaos.
Here’s how to find your moments of calm this Christmas
Enjoy the little moments
If you’re rushed off your feet it’s important to find some pockets of calm. We love treating ourselves to a festive bunch of flowers around this season and spending some time making an arrangement. Arranging flowers uses multiple senses so it’s a great escape, feeling the different textures, looking at the bright colours, and of course smelling the lovely scents is all encompassing. Our limited edition Scent+Remedy bouquet is the perfect option, it includes lots of Wilton botanicals with calming properties.
Christmas seems to double the amount of chores that need doing. Our Wiltoners know that we believe in making chores less of a chore and finding peace in the quite moments of tidying can be really calming. Take your time sprucing up your bedroom with fresh sheets and a scented candle. There’s no better feeling than ticking things off your to do list so you can snuggle up on the sofa with a film.
A little organisation goes a long way
A practical way of finding keeping calm through the holidays is to write to-do lists. Treat yourself to a new note pad and get organised, write your notes in categories, by time blocking, or keep it simple with a couple of non-negotiables you need to get done that day. Breaking larger tasks also can help get through them, instead of writing ‘tidy bedroom’, try ‘change bedding, hoover floor etc’.
Remember, everything doesn’t fall on you. If you have someone special, friends or kids, don’t be afraid to delegate to lift pressure off. You can even share your to do lists with them and see how much they can get done, get our festive cleaning playlist on and time will fly by.
Make time for you
Carving out some time for you in amongst the chaos is important. Around the busy Christmas period, this usually means saying no to a few invitations without feeling guilty or worrying about missing events, we all need a moment to recharge.
Don’t waste that precious time you’ve now got, this is you time. So, do something that relaxes you, like taking yourself out in the fresh air, or having a relaxing bath.
Use essential oils
The scent of essential oils can have powerful moody-boosting effects, as scent is so heavily linked with memory and emotion. Here’s a few ways to utilise essential oils to find your Christmas calm
We hope everyone enjoys the festive season and finds a great balance of calm in the chaos. Recharge, reset and have a very merry Christmas.
– Sam the Wilton Team x

Uniforms, packed lunches and after school activities all require a level of clean-up. While we know super-parents have a handle on this, we have got together our tips that ease the back-to-school cleaning routine and help to stay on top of it for the rest of the year.
Start from scratch / Start from the very beginning
The start of the school year can be a great time to tackle a declutter. Get rid of anything unneeded from last term, like any hobbies that have been ditched for new ones, or bits the little ones have grown out of. Many schools have a donation program for this type of thing, so check locally and pass on to those who might need it. When you have a clean canvas, the rest falls into place a little easier!
A second thing to consider is cleaning out the fridge. Those sauces that have been lurking in the back for a little too long can go. Get everything out and give the fridge a good scrub (our multi surface cleaner will leave a lovely fresh botanical smell to reset and prepare for the incoming stacks of tuppaware and cheese strings). Any jars or bottles can be reused for quick on the go breakfasts like overnight oats!
Sing as you scrub
We believe in making chores less of a chore, and this can happen in more ways than using great products, although that helps too.
Music helps every cleaning session fly by. If you’re cleaning with your crew, try spending ten mins creating a joint playlist featuring everyone’s favourites. No skipping allowed. If you need some inspiration, check out our playlist to get you in the zone.
Get Crafty
We all need treats, and rewards for hard work. Getting crafty by creating a sticker chart to track your cleaning successes is a great way to motivate younger kids. Well, we have one in our office… I guess we’re big kids. Who doesn’t love fun gold stickers eh?
Divide and conquer
We all have a chore we find especially taxing, but that might just be one that someone else in the house doesn’t mind at all. Give everyone a chance to choose the task tor area that they don’t mind doing. Some people are hoover people, some people don’t mind wiping the sides.
For older kids who can help out with cleaning, divvy up the areas that need some special attention in your weekly clean, that way everyone can do their area when they have some time. If you can’t decide, draw areas out of a hat.
Uniform prep
Piles of laundry turning into piles of ironing can feel never ending. To speed up this process, we find using a spray bottle instead of ironing will often do the trick! Perfect for sprucing up school shirts, just hang them up the night before and use a spray bottle of water to give them a spritz all over. Creases will drop out, ready for them to get mucky again the next day.
We think chores should be less of a chore, and with these 5 tips you will have the back-to-school cleaning routine sorted in no time. Let us know your term-time cleaning hacks in the comments.

As you shower, the hot steam releases eucalyptus oils into the air around you. The essential oil is known to have a variety of health benefits, plus, it makes your bathroom extra Instagrammable (and who doesn’t want that?). Here’s how hanging eucalyptus in your shower can provide more benefits that meets the eye.
What’s that smell?
On face value, the eucalyptus doesn’t only look good, it smells good too. If you want to leave your bathroom with a fresh natural scent, this one's for you. Scent is a simple way to boost your mood and will save you some money from purchasing room sprays or scented candles. Trust us, we know our scents.
Let’s de-stress
Eucalyptus oil has been told to help with calming and de-stressing. Some sources say it activates the parasympathetic nervous system which leads to a feeling of being relaxed.
Naturally clean
Eucalyptus oil is known to be naturally effective against microbes, with both antibacterial and antiviral properties. We love it as an ingredient in our home care range, but it also has health benefits, like helping to clear your sinuses.
Wakey Wakey
If you’re not a morning person, eucalyptus might be the answer to help you feel awake. Clearing your sinuses and dilating your airways can improve oxygenated blood flow and make you feel more alert.
Where to find eucalyptus, and how to hang it
Eucalyptus is widely available from flower shops; it’s often used to add height and shape to floral arrangements. Just purchase a small bundle and tie the ends together just under the leaves. You can use rope or twine for this. Tie securely just below the shower head like below it shouldn’t be right under the water stream, the steam will do the work to release its oils. Replace around every 2 weeks (or once the smell goes away).
Check out our video below to see how to hang your eucalyptus.
If you fancy taking the scent into the rest of your home, try our Eucalyptus washing up liquid and multi-surface spray. It fills your home with a fresh eucalyptus scent, combined with notes of lavender, black pepper and bergamot for a properly satisfying clean. You could even use the multi-surface spray to clean your shower, for a double dose of calm.
]]>Here at our Secret Linen Store we could spend all day shouting from under the covers about why linen is an absolute must have for any bedroom, even more so when the temperature outside is just that bit too toasty. Let us share with you why 100% linen bedding is possibly the best option when it comes to keeping cool on hot summer nights.
Thought of as natures wicking fibre, linen has unique filtering, moisture-absorbing and evaporative qualities. Whatever the temperature, we’ve all woken up in a bed that’s a little damp from time to time but because linen can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture before ever feeling damp, you’ll be waking up to cool fresh sheets every morning.
Linen’s thicker threads and looser weave give it a different feel to cotton, which is why it’s much less likely to cling to you whilst you sleep. Linen gently drapes over you, falling rather than clinging to you as you dream of cooler times. Linen is also naturally resistant to static, so you won’t find it stuck to you.
Linen’s temperature regulating properties make it the ideal bedtime choice year-round, with the ability to both insulate and ventilate. Linen’s breathability and moisture wicking abilities are what helps to keep you cool in hotter temperatures but what about those chilly mornings before the sun has peeped up or even those colder nights ahead? Whilst other fabrics may keep you warm at first their construction means that any sweat becomes trapped on the fabric, leaving you damp and eventually cooling you down. As linen wicks away moisture, it will keep you warm whilst releasing any extra humidity to leave you with a light but cosy feeling.
Linen has so many other benefits that make it the ideal bed linen fabric (we know these are year-round, but we couldn’t resist). On top of all the wonderful qualities we have already shared, linen is also resistant to bacteria, non-allergenic, insect repellent and more sustainable than other bed linen fabrics. Now that really is a lot of tricks in our 100% linen bedtime book.
Never mind how it makes you feel in the summer (see points 1-4, also very important), 100% Linen looks absolutely delightful. The texture of the laundered fabric means that the light literally dances across the fabric and makes it the most delightful texture to style and show off. Because of our fabulous dying process, the fabric takes the dye creates highs and lows in the colour making it picture perfect.
If you love summer, but not sleepless nights, linen could be the just the bedtime friend that you are looking for.
Happy Summertime all,
Becky
]]>There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to sleep, and with the UK temperatures soaring over the last couple of days there's been a lot of tossing and turning happening in the bedroom.
So ahead of another uncomfortable evening, we've put together our top tips to help you sleep in this hot weather. Good luck out there Wiltoners.
1. Ice Ice baby
Place a fan in front of a tray of ice, the air from the fan will blow over the ice cooling down the air in the room as the ice begins to melt.
2. Freeze your sheets
Your freezer isn't just for ice cream. Put your sheets in a bag and pop them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to get them icy cool before bed.
3. Choose breathable bedding
100% linen bedding is possibly the best option when it comes to keeping cool in hot summer nights.
Shop our favourites here
4. Stay hydrated
Drinking plenty of water in summer is a must anyway but make sure you have some cold water by your bed to keep you hydrated and cool through the night.
5. Rinse your wrists
Running your wrists under cold water can help reduce your blood temperature through your veins, this is a great way to help reduce your body temp... putting your feet under cold water will help with this too.
6. Water spray
Before climbing into bed, give your sheets a spray with cold water, just be careful not to soak them as no one wants wet bed sheets! Another trick is to spray your curtains to create a light breeze that will float round your room.
7. Treat yourself
If all else fails, get pampering. Apply a cooling face mask or get some lavender spray to help relax you before bed, heat can be very stressful on the body so the calmer you are.. the more likely you'll be to fall into a peaceful slumber.
Putting on a swimsuit can be the highlight of summer but with all the holidays, sun and sea water it can often leave your favourite swimwear left saggy, discoloured and scratchy. Don't let the fear of laundry errors put you off. Taking care of your bikinis doesn't have to be a daunting task.
Give it a rinse
If you can, rinse your swimsuit with fresh water directly after use instead of rolling it up in a towel. Getting rid of any salt and chlorine before drying will help to keep your swimsuit looking and feeling fresh.
Untie the knots
After a long day at the beach its tempting to just pull a bikini over your head without untying any of the strings but this can leave your straps drying in some interesting shapes and leaves them more likely to wear away.
Before washing or drying, give your suits some TLC by untying the straps.
Hand wash
It really depends on the suit but most will tell you it's better to stick to hand washing rather than putting it in the machine. Hand washing with a gentle laundry liquid will not only ensure your bright coloured swimsuits stay bright but will also help them to hold their shape for many summers to come.
Pour a little laundry liquid into a sink with some luke warm water and massage gently by hand.
Time to get shady
Who doesn't love some time in the shade after a long day in the sun. Tumble dryers significantly reduce the life span of the suit, especially with materials like lycra. Instead of putting your wets in the dryer lay them out flat to dry in a shadey area.
Now you know how to take care of your swimsuit, you can hit the beach in style.
]]>'Made in the UK' is more than just a catchphrase, it's a pledge to do business in a way that supports the environment, the economy, and of course, our lovely customers. So, why is Wilton made in the UK?
Carbon emissions
We don't often think about what it means to use products that are imported, but from cars to exotic fruits — the carbon emissions used in transporting goods across the world to land at your door are significantly higher than when you buy goods made in your own backyard.
By keeping all of our production in the UK, we reduce the distance it takes Wilton to get to our customers and cut our carbon emissions in the process. Win-win.
Job creation
Did you know the UK manufacturing industry creates more than 2.7 million jobs? Wilton prides itself on providing high quality jobs for everyone that joins our team, from the warehouse to the office desk.
Although it may be cheaper to make Wilton abroad — being closely connected to where we're made also helps ensure all our employees are happy and being treated and paid fairly in a safe environment.
Quality
With less distance to travel and more control over our production, we're able to make sure our product meets the highest quality standards, every time.
Because a the end of the day, Wilton is more than a business. It's a pledge to do business the right way.
A way that puts the environment and our community at the core of what we do (with some pretty amazing scents too).
What are essential oils
Essential oils are the concentrate that comes from thousands of plants around the globe. Often used in alternative medicine, they're a natural way to help you do everything from focus to sleep and help boost your mood too.
Types of essential oils
Focus
If you're working on a big project, or simply want a more productive workday, you'll definitely want to give these essential oils a try. Generally speaking essential oils that contain some sort of citrus (think lemon or grapefruit) or herbaceous (like rosemary or Cedarwood) are excellent for calming the mind and helping you get more done. Our favourites our:
Stress Relief
We get it, modern life is stressful. But if you're looking for a way to relax, essential oils have got your back. These essential oils help regulate your olfactory system, which in turn decreases your stress levels. Here's our favourites:
Motivation
If you're looking for a pep of energy in your day, all you need is a couple drops of energising essential oils. These oils will boost your serotonin levels naturally and overall give you a better mood throughout the day. We recommend:
Loneliness
Bouts of loneliness are normal for anyone. Luckily there's a few essential oils that directly help with giving you the calm you need when you're feeling alone. We suggest:
Sleep
Need better sleep? Skip the sleeping pills and try these essential oils instead. Not only do they activate your parasympathetic nervous system (which slows down your heart rate) but it clears your airways to prevent snoring too. Give these a try:
How to use essential oils
Inhale
The most straight-forward way to use essential oils is to inhale. We like to use the steam method for this. Simply fill a bowl of hot water with a few drops of essential oils. Then place a towel over your head and inhale the bowl. Make sure the inhales are deep to get the full effect.
Diffuser
A diffuser essentially 'floats' your essential oils in the air for you to inhale. Choose from an electric, ceramic or reed diffuser (or even a candle) to release your lovely scents.
Dry evaporation
If you're in a rush, simply place a few drops of your essential oil onto a cloth or cotton ball and inhale. You can also pop some on everything from shirt to pillowcase for a boost of scent (or just use our Laundry Liquid and Fabric Conditioner).
Top tips for using essential oils
If you love wildflowers like we do, you may be ready to take your relationship to the next level.
Planting wildflowers is a beautiful way to not only add pops of colour to your garden, but support local wildlife too. Here's how to plant your wildflowers like a pro — the Wilton way.
Get your foundation ready
First things first you'll need to get your green space ready to welcome your wildflowers.
Wildflowers thrive in tall grass, so pick a patch in your lawn that hasn't been mowed in a while. Avoid using any compost or fertiliser too as wildflowers grow best in poor soil.
Creating your wildflower meadow
Now that your foundations ready, it's time to get to planting.
We personally love Shasta Daisies, Morning Glories and Marigolds as they're quite easy to grow (so don't worry about having a green thumb). Whatever you do, remember to always use UK native seeds to avoid introducing new species of plants.
To plant wildflowers simply scatter about 5g per square metres across your plot. Make sure to rake the soil and check the seeds are nicely tucked in. Your wildflowers will need lots of hydration — so make sure to water them 2-3 times a week for the first 4-6 weeks (after that, every month will do).
Be patient
On average Wildflowers take around two weeks to germinate, and about 45-60 days to bloom (but the results are well worth it).
As long as they have water, oxygen and sun there's not much maintenance needed on your end. So you can just sit back, relax and let your fabulous garden do its thing.
Where can I buy Wildflower seeds?
From Wilton, of course. To celebrate World Bee Month, we’re giving away free wildflower seed packets with every order to help save the bees that keep our eco-system thriving.
Each packet has enough to create your own 10-20sqft patch of beautiful bee friendly native wildflowers (if you sow yours this month you should have blooms this summer). Order now to get yours today.
P.S - If you need more British Wildflower Seeds sells some lovely ones, but if you don't want to order online you can usually find them at your local farmers market or garden shop (we love the one at Kew Gardens).
When should I start planting my Wildflowers?
The prime times to plant Wildflowers Mid March to Mid May and Mid August to Mid October. Time to get to planting.

Muker Meadows, Swaledale
Muker Meadow has been coined one of the best places to see Wildflowers in the UK for its wide and beautiful range of native blooms.
For the best experience, plan for a summer visit. There's a lovely walk around the Muker village nearby and most Wildflowers will be in bloom by then.
Rannderdale Knotts, Lake District
Bluebells aren't always the first thing you think of when it comes to the Lake District. But come May, there's thousands swarming across the area, and they're well-worth seeing.
Pay a visit to the magical Rannderdale Knotts to lose a day roaming Bluebells and enjoying UK nature to the fullest. In bloom for most of April and May.
The Sunflower Project at Hard Pressed Cornwall
Starting from May the Cornish coast turns into a treasure trove of Wildflowers, and they're pretty photo-worthy too.
Visit the 18-acre 'Sunflower Project' field near Truro in Cornwall — packed with over 275,000 sunflowers and open to the public. Even better, all proceeds to The Sunflower Project help raise money for the Soweena Mental Heath Trust for young people.
Lordington Lavender Field, Hampshire
If the Lordington Lavender Field looks familiar, it's probably because you've seen it on your Instagram feed. From 2002 the Lavender field was brought to life to help preserve the historic Lavender industry.
Wander over 25-acres of pungent purple fields, bursting with iconic wildflowers.
London Fields, London
It's easy to forget London is 40% green space when you live in the city. But if you travel to London Fields you'll get a beautiful reminder.
The Hackney park is filled with vibrant Red Poppies come springtime.
Remember, Wildflowers are for admiring
Although we love Wildflowers, they shouldn't go home with us. From birds to bees and dragonflys — wild species depend on Wildflowers to flourish. But that doesn't mean you can't snap a pic or two (or of course, grow your own).
]]>When we think of cleaning the word 'fun' doesn't always come to mind. But why not?
Making your home shine should always be an enjoyable experience. Here's a few simple tips to making cleaning more enjoyable, every time.
Pop on a playlist
There's nothing like having a clean with your favourite tunes in the background. Want some recommendations? We've got a clean up playlist made you for.
Involve the family
If you're prepping for a big clean (like a spring clean perhaps?) you shouldn't do it alone. Grab the family and make a day of bringing your home back to life.
Catch up with a friend
We all have that person we say we've been meaning to call for ages, but never do. Whether it's your grandparents or an old friend, skip the texts and social media and give them a ring instead — all while cleaning out your closet.
Make a list
There's something oddly satisfying about ticking off a to-do list, so why not put it to good use? Make a 'clean list' of all the bits you have to do around the house and tick it off as you go.
Use Wilton
At Wilton we believe doing chores should never feel like a chore. That's why we've made beautifully scented cleaning products (that are eco-friendly, too) so you never have to compromise between a good clean and a good time.

It’s no secret that energy bills have soared but there are ways that you can cut your energy usage all whilst helping the planet at the same time!
From changing when you do the washing to turning the temperature of your wash down, we’ve put together some useful tips and tricks to make your laundry time as effective as possible.
Wash less
The easiest way to have a more sustainable wash up routine is to do your wash up less often. In fact, only running full loads of laundry could save you up to 45KG of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
Don't worry, we don't expect you to go running around with dirty socks every day. But even something as simple as following the 'three rule' (three wears before you wash) or spritzing your clothes with water will do wonders.
Freeze it
There are other ways to freshen up your clothes.
Pop your jeans in the freezer for 24 hours, it will kill off bacteria causing smells and help your retain their shape and colour. The same all sorts of items that sometimes just need a light clean or freshen up.
Smart tumble drying
Can tumble dryers help you be more eco - yes!
As you probably know, tumble dryers use a lot of energy. But 15 mins on a low heat uses much less energy than a full wash. So if you have some items that could do with a freshen up (e.g.wooly jumper that's been stored in a drawer, pair or trousers, blazer), resist the temptation to put them in the wash and instead put them on for a quick, low tumble. They will come out fresh as a daisy.
Only use what you need
Do you free pour detergent into the machine drawer? You're not alone.
Of course, when you're using scents as delicious as Cedarwood or Jasmine in your laundry, it's easy to go overboard. But you really should measure it out and use dosage guidelines. Trust us, using too much does not help you get a better clean.
If you think your load might be a tough one, try adding a little detergent straight onto the stains - that will help more than putting half a bottle in the wash.
Go for short and cold washes
Long and high-temperature washes are the biggest culprit for unsustainable wash ups. Don't worry, it's super quick to fix. Just turn your machine down to 30 degrees to save up to 60% your carbon footprint (yes, really) with each wash.
Short washes can help too. But don't over load or make it a short wash when it's a heavily soiled load. It becomes a false economy because if you undercook it or overload it, chances are the clean won't be good enough and you'll want to wash them again - and there's nothing eco about that.
Choose your laundry liquid wisely
Of course, one of the best ways to have a sustainable wash up routine is to make your laundry liquid eco-friendly. For example, our Laundry Liquid and Fabric Conditioner is formulated with plant-based ingredients and made in the UK, lessening our carbon footprint as a whole and helping you avoid some nasty chemicals.
Avoid Micro-plastic
Did you know many laundry detergents and conditioners contain micro-plastics?
It's crazy, but try. These are usually in the form of either 'optical brighteners' or 'micro-encapsulated' fragrances. The latter is technology that allows brands to put their fragrances into tiny little balls that stick to your laundry and when dry, they break, giving off a lasting scent. But those little balls, are made of plastic! and there's no way they're going to get recycled.
To avoid this, you have to ask a brand directly - 'Do you use micro-encapsulated fragrances?'

]]>Here's a few simple ways to make your home more green, the Wilton way.
1. Do full laundry loads
We know how tempting it is to throw in your favourite coffee-stained blouse in for a quick wash, but did you know the average wash takes up 19 gallons of water?
Lessen the load (quite literally) by only doing full laundry loads and hand-washing for single items.
P.S - Here's our ultimate hand-washing guide to get you started
2. Turn off standby mode
Whether it's your telly or the kettle, unless switched off, all your electronics and appliances are still using up energy in your home (that you don't need).
Of course, manually turning off all your switches every night can be a pain, so consider getting a smart power strip to do it for your automatically or a Hive Plug to do it through your phone.
3. Go easy on the kettle
Raise your hand if you've ever filled the kettle up to the top...and used about half the water (don't worry, our hands are raised too). If you can believe it, we as a country waste about £68 MILLION pounds a year just from overfilling the kettle.
The solution? Just top up as much as you need and you can save as much as 30% of the energy you've been using.
4. Use the eco settings on your boiler and dishwasher
If you take a look on your boiler, dishwasher or even washing machine you'll notice there's usually an 'Eco mode' designed to heat water more slowly and save energy in the process.
The only downside here is it takes longer, but in the words of Lady Mary Montgomerie Currie, "All good things come to those who wait".
5. Use natural cleaning products
Of course we'd be remiss if we didn't talk about the benefits of using natural cleaning products in your home (I mean, have you tried our multi-surface?).
By avoiding harsh chemicals, dyes and fragrances in your home you're instantly minimising your impact on the environment as eco products are less toxic and have lower carbon footprints than traditional cleaning products.
How do you make your home more sustainable? Leave us your tips in the comments.

If you're as flower obsessed as we are then you know spring is the perfect excuse to get a little flower crazy. But it's important to do it in a sustainable way.
Like anything imported, the carbon footprint for products brought from overseas is massive compared to those sourced locally and in season.
In fact, a study from Lancaster University showed that the carbon footprint of buying imported flowers is nearly 10 times higher than home sourced bouquets. Lucky for us there's plenty to choose from (and they're absolutely stunning).
Here's our picks for the best in season blooms to brighten up your space, like a Wiltoner.
The best British spring flowers to brighten up your home
Parrot Tulips
Everyone goes for tulips in spring, but have you ever heard of Parrot Tulips? Their cup-shaped fringes are a beautiful way to add something new to your spring bouquet.
They're in bloom from late April to May.
Narcissus
Narcissus, otherwise known by their fancier name 'daffodils' are no stranger to spring, or the UK.
Dotted in soft yellows the trumpet-shaped flowers are sure to compliment any home. Pick up a £1 bunch from the shops, or find the bulbs of some fancier varieties online - plant them in April (in a window pot or a garden) for blooms in March to April, plus they last for ages.
Anemone
More into the simple touches? We're super into Anemone at the moment, a beautiful spring flower great for adding pops of colour to any room.
P.S - Their time to shine is from April to June
Euphorbia
Ever heard of Euphorbia? The lime-green beauties are sure to make a statement in any season, but they're extra lovely in spring — blooming from April to June.
Ranunculus
With ruffled petals and delicate pink hues, this Ranunculus flower is a total showstopper, blooming all the way from April to October.

]]>Anyone else crazy indecisive when it comes to mother’s day presents? But sometimes, a little goes a long way.
Here's 4 simple Mother's Day 'gifts' you don't even have to wrap.
Have an Afternoon Tea at home
Who says you have to travel for afternoon tea? Enjoy the comfort of home with your mum over scones (and a good pot of tea) with an afternoon tea at home.
Personally, we'd recommend Fortnum & Mason's Mid-Afternoon Tea Hamper or Cutter & Squidge's Afternoon Tea At Home.
Make her a home-cooked meal
You've got her a gift. The perfect card. Now let's top it off with a home-cooked meal.
Nothing spoils a mum quite as much as breakfast in bed (laundered in Wilton Laundry Liquid, obviously) or a Mother's Day dinner. Lost for ideas? Get recipe inspo on BBC Good Foods or Delish UK
Quality time
We're all guilty of forgetting how much quality time means to our parents (and us), so time for a reminder.
Whether it's a cheeky Netflix binge on the telly or the simple enjoyment of a good catch-up, giving your mum a few hours of undivided attention goes a long way.
Clean the house (Wilton style)
Now, we're not saying give mum a day off cleaning - because everyone should be sharing the cleaning. BUT, there's nothing better than coming home to a clean home scented with essential oils.
So make the house sparkle effortlessly with our multi-surface spray and essential oil packed wash-up. And if you really want to impress, do the laundry.
Now, obviously, we're biased, but with scents like aromatic Cedarwood or fresh Jasmine you're sure to have a happy mum.
]]>A refreshed home is a refreshed mind, and the perfect way to get ready to take on the new season. And let's face it, there's few things as satisfying as a spring clean.
Here's a room-by-room guide on how to do your spring clean, like a Wiltoner.
Entry Way
As you soon as you walk in, you should be able to smell spring in the air. Spruce up your entry way with some spring flowers (like Primrose or Tulips).
You'll also want to give a good organising to all your shoes and jackets and give your front door a good ole scrub. First impressions!
Dining Room
For the dining room you'll most likely have some old China lying around that could use a good dusting. Time to get to work.
You'll also want to strip your table linens and pop them in for a delicate wash.
Bathroom
Cleaning the bathroom is the biggest job of any spring clean, but it's gotta be done. Start by having a look through all your makeup and personal care items for anything old or expired (and clean any old makeup brushes).
For a burst of freshness, use our grapefruit multi-surface spray to clean your shower and sink. If you're up for the effort, you can also replace your shower curtain liner.
Kitchen
Nothing gets you in the mood to make an Easter roast more than a beautifully clean kitchen.
A satisfying wipe down of all your appliances and you'll be good to go.
Laundry Rooms
Time to get rid of that pesky washing machine smell.
Instead of bleaching, try vinegar, it's the best eco-friendly alternative and will easily kill all the bacteria in your machine. Just add around 450ml of white vinegar to the drum, run a hot wash and your washing machine is guaranteed to smell better for longer.
Needless to say this a great time to whip out our laundry range (the only question is Jasmine or Cedarwood?).
Bedrooms
The bedroom is the haven of any home. Let's make it sparkling. With your pillows, sheets, duvets and bed skirts all added to the wash, it's time to bring your mattress back to life.
Flipping your mattress every 6-12 months helps spread the pressure and keeps it lasting longer.
After the bed is flipped, make your way to the wardrobe for any clothes to donate or resell on platforms like Thrift.
Living Rooms
There's a reason it's called the living room. This is where we spend the majority of our time, so it'll need some real TLC.
Give your lamp shade a good dust and if you have a carpet, now's the time to deodorise (with baking soda), shampoo and vacuum.
Office
As working from home has become the new normal, having a tidy office is as important as ever.
Make sure to recycle any old notes or work documents and give your keyboard and mouse a good sanitising.
Don't forget to restock
Of course, any spring clean will need some cleaning products, and there's nothing as satisfying as a restock. Use our laundry range and wash-up bundles (or go all out with The Big Clean) for the perfect spring tidy.

]]>Changing the way people clean their homes (from harsh chemicals to environmentally kind products), changing the way we measure success and changing what it means to be a company for good.
In 2020, Wilton became a B-Corp — scrutinising every aspect of our business to reduce our impact on the environment and improve the lives of our people.
This March kicks off B-Corp month, a time to celebrate our fellow companies putting the people and planet before profit, building better businesses and redefining success, too. Here’s all that’s going on and how to get involved.
B-Corp was started in 2006 with the non-global profit organisation “B Lab” — aimed at giving companies the opportunity show their commitment to balancing people and the planet with profit. Since then they’ve grown from 82 B-Corps to over 4,000 across spanning across 70+ countries.
A B-Corp is an accreditation awarded to businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact. In short, B Corps do things differently. We have a ‘triple bottom line’ that puts the value we add to people’s lives and planet on the same table as profit.
To become a B-Corp you must prove your business adheres to the highest standards of transparency and accountability. The B-Corp assessment is quite rigorous if we’re honest. But for good reason. Businesses are assessed on 5 key impact areas, here's how Wilton commits to each:
→ Governance
We're in it for the long run, setting up a business designed for longevity and fairness — not just quick wins
→ Wiltoners First
Only producing products that have a positive impact on our customers’ lives (like botanical scents without any harsh chemicals, for example) and keeping you apart of our journey
→ Team
Taking care of the people that bring Wilton to life
→ Environment
Putting the planet first in everything we do. From the way we work in our office to manufacturing, sourcing our ingredients and packaging — we're constantly taking steps to reduce our impact on the environment
→ Community
Making all of our products in the UK and being apart of the community we do business in. Working with charities and organisations that are changing the world for good
What’s on for B-Corp Month?
Good question. Every B-Corp will be showing up in their own way to shout about what being a people before profit company means to them. On our end, we’ll be partnering with some of our favourite B-Corp brands for an exciting giveaway (stay tuned on our Instagram 😉) and sharing lots of behind-the-scenes of how Wilton came to be.
Happy B-Corp Month,
Team Wilton
]]>Haw to wash the latest fashion trends from London Fashion Week
London Fashion Week is one of the most iconic events to hit the capital, and this year is no exception. We didn’t get an invite 😢 but we’ve been eyeing up all the amazing outfits.
From bright neons to ‘spaghetti strap’ chic, there’s a few trends that are taking over the runway for 2022, and of course, eventually, they’ll need a good wash.
Here’s how to wash the latest fashion trends — like a Wiltoner.
How to wash loose denim?
Not only is denim not going anywhere, they’re getting even looser too! (win) But how do you...wash them?
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to wash your denim that often, around every three wears should do.
To handwash, turn your loose jeans inside out (this helps prevent fading) and fill your sink with lukewarm water. Add a little bit of detergent to the mix (under 15 ml will do) like our Cedarwood Laundry Liquid and let your denim jeans soak for about a half an hour. Gently rub the fabric together for around 4 minutes, paying particular attention to any spots.
Then simply fill up the sink up again with fabric conditioner and leave your jeans to soak for around 15 minutes. Turn them right out to dry.
Remember, denim jeans are a sensitive bunch; so make sure you machine wash them on a gentle cycle with the coldest water option. Skip the tumble dryer and air-dry after. If they’re a bit stiff, you can pop them in the dryer after air drying, for 10 mins or so.
Neon
From zesty yellows to futuristic mini dresses, neon's are here to stay. Here’s how to care for your juicy colours.
The most important thing with neon clothes is to keep their bright colours intact (don’t want to lose that pop!). Again, turn your neon's inside out and make sure you blot treat any stubborn liquid spills before washing.
Machine washing works fine for most neons, but keep it on a gentle cycle with cold water. Make sure you’re only washing them with similar bright colours too.
This is where our Oxy Bleach comes in as it’ll help remove all those pesky stains and keep those colours nice and fresh (unlike chlorine, Oxygen won’t bleach your clothes).
Tag team it with our Laundry Liquid and Fabric Conditioner range and you’ll be good to go. Our fabric conditioner is particularly good at helping to maintain colour and even helps repair natural fibres – plus, a little goes a long way.
Spaghetti Straps
If you thought Spaghetti Straps were SO 2003 — you’re wrong (at least according to London Fashion Week). There’s something delicate and sexy about this minimal fashion trend, which is exactly why you’ll need to wash with care.
The number one thing you’ll want to avoid is getting your straps tangled. Tie your straps together in a semi-loose knot before you put them in the wash to prevent anything getting caught in the washer.
Mesh bags can also help add an extra bit of protection for your delicate straps, allowing the water and laundry liquid to seep in whilst giving a layer between your clothes and the washer. Wash on a cold and delicate cycle to keep your straps and the material in shipshape.
P.S - If this all sounds like a hassle, hand-washing is the way to go.
Cascading Ruffles
Ruffles ooze romance and elegance, if they’re cared for properly.
By far the most delicate out of these fashion trends, you’ll want to be extra careful at each step of the washing process.
It goes without saying, but the first thing you should do is check the washing instructions on the label. Ruffled clothing often has specific temperature and washing requirements to follow (for example, hand-wash only) which will make or break the quality of your piece.
If you’re popping your garment in the washer, you only need 2-3 minutes on a gentle cycle to give it a good clean. If its hand-wash only, simply fill up your sink and add a bit of our Laundry Liquid and spot-clean per usual (but don’t rub the lace together).
Use a gentle fabric conditioner to soften the fabrics and keep those ruffle’s fibres intact and air dry on a flat surface to help maintain its shape.

Jasmine is well known for its sweet scent but did you know that Jasmine can also act as a natural mood booster and their essential oils have proven mental health benefits?
Studies show that Jasmine can significantly help in reducing anxiety and depression. This is because of the extra doses of GABA released — a calming chemical throughout our nervous system.
The word Jasmine also literally means “a gift from god”, which makes sense considering its yummy scent.
So if you’ve been feeling down (or just like amazing smelling plants) here’s how to give your indoor Jasmine plant the TLC it deserves.
How to care for a Jasmine plant
Give it the window treatment
Jasmine plants are best kept near a south sunny window (or a well-lit room). Try to give it around 6 hours of direct sunlight everyday and about 2-4 hours of partial shade.
Having good air circulation is also vital to Jasmine plants, so open those windows!
Bring on the water
Like any tropical plant, Jasmines need a lot of water. Aim to water your plant around two times a week, or when the soil gets dry. Remember the soil should be slightly moist, never soggy.
Temperature wise, even though it’s from warmer climates, Jasmine’s love the cool (fussy pants). To prevent overheating, try to keep the room around 18°C.
Nip and tuck
Jasmine plants are climbing vines, which means pruning is a must!
Removing any icky-looking vines and old stems will keep your Jasmine looking tidy and help them grow super quickly.
To do this, just give the top 1cm a good pinch between your thumbnail and finger.
Get your soil right
Good soil is the foundation for any healthy plant. In Jasmine’s case, the more absorbent your soil, the better. Pop in some organic treats like bark or coir (we didn’t know what that was either) to help drain the soil and keep it nice and airy.
Make room for the vines
The good news is Jasmine grows super quickly, the bad news is, Jasmine grows super quickly. It won’t take long for your Jasmine to be sprawling everywhere, so make sure you’ve got a proper planter ready.
Hanging planters tick all the style boxes, but a trellis is an instantly inexpensive way to add a unique design to your space.
And hey, you can always choose to let it hang loose, it’s all a matter of aesthetics.
Where to buy Jasmine plants in London
If you’re still on the hunt for the perfect scented Jasmine , have a look at Beard & Daisies, they’ve got a lovely range to choose from, plus they ship across the UK. And of course, there’s no better compliment to a Jasmine plant than our Eco Friendly Jasmine Laundry Liquid, packed with natural essential oils, which obviously includes Jasmine!
Is it difficult to care for an indoor Jasmine plant?
Luckily Jasmine plants are pretty easy to care for, but they are delicate. Make sure they get plenty of sun, water, pruning and fresh soil to grow into its full potential (quite, literally).
