How to sleep in a heatwave

There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to sleep, and with the UK temperatures soaring over the last couple of days there's been a lot of tossing and turning happening in the bedroom.

So ahead of another uncomfortable evening, we've put together our top tips to help you sleep in this hot weather. Good luck out there Wiltoners.

1. Ice Ice baby

Place a fan in front of a tray of ice, the air from the fan will blow over the ice cooling down the air in the room as the ice begins to melt.

2. Freeze your sheets

Your freezer isn't just for ice cream. Put your sheets in a bag and pop them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to get them icy cool before bed.

3. Choose breathable bedding

100% linen bedding is possibly the best option when it comes to keeping cool in hot summer nights.

4. Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water in summer is a must anyway but make sure you have some cold water by your bed to keep you hydrated and cool through the night.

5. Rinse your wrists

Running your wrists under cold water can help reduce your blood temperature through your veins, this is a great way to help reduce your body temp... putting your feet under cold water will help with this too.

6. Water spray

Before climbing into bed, give your sheets a spray with cold water, just be careful not to soak them as no one wants wet bed sheets! Another trick is to spray your curtains to create a light breeze that will float round your room.

7. Treat yourself

If all else fails, get pampering. Apply a cooling face mask or get some lavender spray to help relax you before bed, heat can be very stressful on the body so the calmer you are.. the more likely you'll be to fall into a peaceful slumber.
